Utilising Social Media to Support Fundraising

Papillon’s social media course was developed in recognition of the importance of the use of the social media to assist in all that NPOs do, particularly their fundraising. Love it or hate it, the social media is here and people (donors, volunteers, event goers and those with skills or items to share) follow and participate in the social media. This course will help delegates to realise the potential of the social media to enhance and support their organisations. Guest trainers, Yolandi Greyling and Mbali Mahlangu, specialise in advising non-profits and social enterprises on maximising their use of the social media. They will share their up-to-date knowledge of these ever-evolving platforms and advise on optimally reaching large numbers of the audiences needed and make the social media work for each NPO represented.

Topics covered include:

  • The potential impact of the social media for NPOs
  • Facebook Advertising:
    a. Look alike audiences
    b. Custom audience
  • Devising adverts for the social media (to capture/be seen)
  • Difference between post boosting and advertising
  • Content creation
  • Scheduling and planning
  • Online giving
  • Using the social media to support crowdfunding
