Concept Notes & Application Forms
Not all donors want funding proposals. A growing number, particularly those giving large amounts, require concept notes prior to NPOs, universities or faith-based entities being invited to apply for funding – often then being required to populate an application form. Concept notes, although, concise, should not be quickly and hurriedly written. It is immensely competitive to have a concept note ‘stand out’ among the deluge received. In this course, experienced fundraiser, Jill Ritchie (who is often called upon by major donors to assist in assessing concept notes), shares invaluable tips on developing documents that best summarise an organisation and its project to a potential funder. Topics covered include:
- Planning
- Budgeting
- Concept note check list/template
- Tailoring concept notes to each donor
- Using key words
- What not to do
- Things that impress, but are not always requested
- Application form tips
