James brings decades of hands-on experience in all aspects of labour law in South Africa to assist the country’s NPOs, schools, faith-based bodies and tertiary institutions in legally compliant application of HR procedures. (James can also assist organisations that do not have HR procedures in place, to develop these). In many of South Africa’s organisations, labour matters are added on to the already extensive job description of CEOs and MDs. Few have much knowledge of the complexities of labour law.

James points out that even though some NPOs are exempt from the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, they must comply with the provisions of the Labour Relations Act.
