Capital campaigns differ from ongoing fundraising for projects or core costs as they are planned and assembled for the specific purpose of raising a set amount of money, usually for a building, but could also be embarked upon for vehicles and/or equipment. Capital campaigns have start and end dates and are run via tried and tested methods.

Jill Ritchie has decades of experience in compiling capital campaign plans, fundraising for capital requirements as well as managing campaigns aimed at raising millions for major NPOs and tertiary institutions.

In this practical and easy-to-follow course, she will share her expertise from conceptualisation, planning and marketing to fundraising and the challenges of managing capital campaigns.
Topics include:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Capital campaign planning
  • Capital campaign patrons, champions and council
  • Managing a capital campaign
  • Maintaining the motivation
  • Capital campaigns in tandem with ongoing fundraising needs
  • Why some capital campaigns fail
  • Naming rights.

Jill and Claire will share their insights on developing innovative partnerships, incorporating cause related marketing into capital campaigns and utilising the Internet and other new media to support campaigns.

Delegates will actively participate in planning exercises to equip themselves with the skills to embark on campaigns of this nature. Notes provided include a sample capital campaign plan.

An optional additional service, only for delegates to this course, is the opportunity to send their capital campaign plans to the Papillion team for comment and advice. (Note: this does not include a re-write or edit but comment and advice only, as an extension of the learning gained during the course.)
